3D wireframe
Using a blend to create a
3D spherical wireframe. |
| |
|
|
In this tutorial, we'll use a blend to create
a 3D spherical wireframe. If you are new to
Blends, check out my other Basic
Blend Tutorials also.

Note:
Blending grouped objects can produce unpredictable results.
And be warned, complicated blends are memory hogs, and can
significantly slow down your computer's performance.
For our purposes here, we will
use simple shapes with strokes, to make things go easily.
But I encourage you to experiment nonetheless. Experiments
can often lead to great discoveries.

3D Spherical Grid |
|
 |
1. Create
a circle with a 1pt or 2pt black stroke, and no fill.
|
| |
|
 |
2. With
your direct selection tool ,
select the point on the far right and delete it.
You should now have a semi circle, like mine here.
|
| |
|
 |
3. With
your selection tool ,
select the semicircle.
Go Object
> Transform > Reflect > Vertical > 90° > Copy.
Move the copy of the semicircle so it looks
like mine here.
|
| |
|
 |
4. With
your selection tool ,
select both semi circles.
Object > Blend > Blend Options >
Specified Steps > 11.
Object > Blend > Make.
Or (Ctrl + Alt + B // Cmd + Option + B)
|
| |
|
 |
5. Select
the blend we just created.
Now copy (Ctrl
+ C // Cmd + C) and paste it
in front (Ctrl + F // Cmd + F).
Now rotate
the copy 90°.
